FROM SEPTEMBER 10-17th, Mercedes Benz hosted the 2009 Fall Fashion Week in New York  city. At this show, designers worldwide gather to showcase spring and summer 2010 collections. Top designers like Calvin Clein, Issac Mizerahi, Ralph Lauren, Oscar De La Renta, Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Marc Jacobs & Vera Wang unleashed  models onto the runway with fierce designs. Besides the models and the designers, many celebrties were present at the runway. Stars like Rihanna, Leighton Meester, Blake Lively, Kate Hudson, Ashley Olsen, Gwen Stefani, Kirsten Dunst, Hillary Duff, Jessica Alba, Gerard Butler, Amanda Bynes, Lady GaGa & Katy Perry were spotted.

The Catwalk was filled with spring and summer styles. BCBG designer Maz Azria “Really Portrayed the upcomming seasons styles best,” according to MSN’s fashion week blog. Azria’s kept the “it- party Girl” look key with a short, body con, sexy 80’s feel. He Collaged Blacks, Navys, and Pepto Pinks with floral prints. every designer, including Azria had their models with a metalic clutch at hand.( HINT!! HINT!!  A METALIC CLUTCH IS A MUST!!) The fact that all designers included the clutches in their lines just stresses the importance and versatility. They really are such great accesories for any occasion, whether you dress it up, or dress it down. Prada also executed a collection that awed the crowd with satin, commanding jackets with bold shoulders, 40’s inspires sluits and over the knee boots.

Many people simply dream of attending fashion week. It happens twice a year, and honestly unless you’re a celebrity, a designer, a mekup artist, model, press, hair stylist or security guard, your odds of gettinmg in are highly, BUT! just in cae you ever do get to attend, we’ve created the Fashion Week Code so you fit in just right with the elite crowd.

1. Keep Your Blackberry/iPhone, etc. handy!-Normally it’s very Rude to be glued to your cell phone, but at fashion week it’s a must. You definetly don’t want to be the only one who missed gossip!
2. Never Be early or on time!- Show up 20 minutes AFTER the set arrival time. if you get there too early you may seem eager, which isn’t cool at all.
3. Play it Cool-You may want to sell your soul for the dress comming down the runway, but you have to keep your cool. No yelling, sqirming in your seat or violently tapping the person next to you. A simple golf clap is sufficient.
4. Ignore (or pretend to) celebrities- MAINTAIN DISTANCE! ABSOLUTELY NO: Drooling, gawking, awkward photograph snapping/autograph seeking. anything listed above is only acceptable if you’re 14 and it’s still cute.
5. Take off your sunglasses.-Sunglasses indoors=major fashion faux pas.
6. Crashing is NOT o.k.-To be doored is not the way you want to be remembered by the “in” social crowd. it’s pretty much impossible to crash or get into a party you’re not invited to with all the security present. Save yourself the trouble and embarrassment and stay home.
7. Don’t Talk.- Don’t speak to anyone. they probably don’t want to talk to you. they came to watch and appreciate the show, so just keep your mouth shut. an occasional “Oohh!” and Ahh!” is acceptable.
8. Save the networking.-Keep the shmoozing to a minimum. nobody cares about your portfolio, resume, or sketches. the main focus is the established fashion talent. maybe one day, that’ll be you.

CHANEL IMAN ROBINSON,

better known as Chanel iman, has been gracing the runway and has had her face on every major fashion publication  that you can find on news stands. with that being said, it’s only fair we give this young, fresh faced beauty the SUPERMODEL SPOTLIGHT.

Chanel is only 19, and has accomplished some of the greatest feats in modeling. she  breathes new  life into the term working girl, and still has time to smile for the camera!

Chanel iman was born in Atlanta, Georgia on November 30, 1989. She’s a multicultural girl with backrounds of African-American and Korean-American. she stands at five feet ten inches, with great poise.

Her primiere on the runway was in the fall/winter 2006 season for high end brands like Custo Barcelona and DKNY. since her start, Iman has modeled for labels like D&G, Marc Jacobs, Valentino, Hermes, Michael Kors, Diane Von Furstenburg, Vera Wang, and Stella McCartney.

At milan fashion week, spring 2010 (held in september 2009), she was in high demand, and shut down the show. she booked nine shows, including big names like Gucci, Versace, and Dolce & Gabbana. she has also appeared in many magazines, including teen vogue, twice. She appeared in the spring 2007 issue of time, style and design, in the may 2007 issue of us Vogue. in January 2009, Chanel appeared on the cover of New York Post’s, Page Six Spread.

She also works a little bit in the music scene, she’s helped rappers with their lines and a little bit more behind the scenes stuff.

What makes miss chanel iman so spotlight worthy, is that she continuously breaks down racial barriers. she speaks stongly of the lack of diversity, and how she wants to change that. she has made a step towards that by her frequent appearences on the catwalk which is part of what some called a “resurgence” of black models featured in italian shows.

Iman does plan to break away from modeling, although not entirely. she wants to explore other ascpects of the fashion industry, like design. but it doesn’t stop at designing clothes, she wants to design houses!
